House of Bricks Reflection

My favourite Lego activity was pass the bricks because I was excited to see what it looks like at the end

mine turned into a interesting jungle it was so crazy there was bush

My least favourite Lego activity was mosaic because i did not like making patterns and it wasent exciting but luckily i made mine like a blade

The activity that tested my perseverance the most was building the cars because it was hard and we only got 2 pairs of wheels but i needed 4 pairs

The most challenging activity was the mosaic because it was hard to make the patterns beacuse we needed to put in each brick at a time

I did not enjoy working collaboratively with others because i liked working with my friends

Happy Heart Word

This week I have been learning how to sound out words. We learnt a rule called The Floss Rule. This is when a one syllable word, with a short vowel sound in the middle (and it it ends with a s, f l or z) you write a double consonant for it. For example here are some of the words - floss, cuff, press and fluff.

We have also been learning our heart words. Below are some that I have made. These are words that I need to learn off by heart.

Do you know why these might be heart words?

Town Trip

For our PBL this term, we are learning about Turangawaiwai.

To help us with this, we went into town yesterday and went to Victoria Square Margaret mahy and even went into a Waka.

Something I learnt was That Captain Cook was the first person besides the Maori people to step foot on New Zealand. And that there were 13 woven mats in the city. And that pou is just a wooden carving and it tells a story of the Maori. And I learnt that Eels were called Tuna and it is different to tuna in a can.

The thing I found the most interesting was the waka beacuse we were going really fast and we were just peddling the boat with no engine and we did a charnt. And with Miss Carney when we did a scavenger hunt and we did some art with the Maori patterns.

This trip has helped me with my PBL because there were a lot of designs that I can use for my PBL. And I learnt a lot of facts about the mats with Miss Bryce. And there was a lot of stuff around the big circuit around Margaret mahy .

My Magnificent Math

This week my group has been learning about rounding and compensating it is really easy and fun. Here is a cool Google drawing about rounding and compensating.

Say you had 47+99 you plus 1 on to the 99 so that  = 100 and then you - 1 off the 47 that = 46

so 46+100=146

My Magnificent Maths for Week 7 - Tidy numbers and Place Value

This week for maths we were leaning about subtraction using place value and tidy numbers. I liked the using place value the best as I find it easier to do. Tidy numbers is pretty easy but more confusing as you have to remember the rule is different to addition.

Here is my goal

Goal: Place Value & Tidy Numbers (subtraction)

I hope you like my create task and can learn from it. What subtraction strategy do you like best?

How to write a quality blog post

My learning goal this week was to how you write a quality blog post .

I'll be teaching you how to write a good blog post. Here are some steps that can help you.

First you start off with a catchy title.

Then you add an introduction

You need to do two or three sentences about what you have done.

You can add a label.

Put a picture in your blog post.

Add add a conclusion.

Add a question at the end.

Here are some tips about how to make a good comment as well.

A good comment has 3 things, Positive, Thoughtful and Helpful and every time your commenting you need to include those 3 things.

And put a question in.

Please read my slide show.
